Benjamin Ayers is a Supervisory Housing Specialist and is currently fulfilling the role of Deputy Director in the Office of HIV/AIDS Housing at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Benjamin has been with HUD for 17 years, with 11 of those years in the Office of HIV/AIDS Housing. In his current role, he supervises the Office of HIV/AIDS Housing staff, providing oversight on all office work product and tools, management of personnel actions, and development of policy initiatives. Prior to his current role Benjamin concentrated on management of the competitive grant portfolio and developed and implemented the employment initiative, “Getting to Work”, as well as other special initiatives and products involving financial management, grantee compliance, and grant implementation issues. Prior to joining the Office of HIV/AIDS Housing, Benjamin worked in the Office of the Secretary under Secretaries Cuomo, Martinez, and Jackson as an administrative officer providing scheduling, traveling, and correspondence support.
